Post-Surgical Manuka Honey ‘Sandwiches’ Help Fight Superbug Infections

Honeybee on foraging on Manuka flowerscientists have used tiny layers of Manuka honey in surgical mesh to fight post-operative infections with great success.

This is exciting news for not only the Manuka honey industry, but also for surgical patients encountering the possibility of superbugs and antibiotic resistance.  In this study, Manuka honey has killed antibiotic-resistant superbugs and further has not developed resistance like pharmaceutical antibiotics do.
